TsunamiDigital

From floor plan to 3D building and energy class.

A web app for engineers that turns a 2D floor plan into a 3D building and calculates heat loss and gain, energy class and nZEB compliance to Croatian and EU standards.

Built and run in-house by Tsunami Digital. toplinko.hr

The product

Toplinko is an in-house product of Tsunami Digital: a web app for the engineers, designers and energy consultants who calculate how much heat a building loses and gains. It turns a slow, rule-heavy part of their job into a guided process in the browser. We designed it, we built it and we keep it up to date ourselves, which means we answer for every calculation it produces.

Engineers draw the floor plan in the built-in 2D CAD builder or bring it in through the AutoCAD integration (DXF), and Toplinko recognises walls and rooms on its own. From the plans it assembles a 3D model of the building, floor by floor, with walls at their real thickness and windows and doors at their height, and colours the envelope by U-value so weak spots show at a glance. One click then runs heat loss and gain, energy class A+ to G, the nZEB check, condensation risk and summer overheating, and the plans and 3D views go straight into PDF and Word reports.

The problem

Heat load and energy calculations are detailed, rule-bound and repetitive. Done in spreadsheets or older desktop tools, they eat hours, leave room for mistakes and still need drawings and pictures pasted in by hand. Engineers needed one tool that follows the standards, reads the drawings they already have and produces the documentation for them.

What we built

04
  1. 01

    Calculation engine

Heat loss and gain, U-values, thermal bridges, condensation risk and annual energy to HRN EN 12831, ISO 6946, ISO 13788 and ISO 13790, plus energy class A+ to G and the nZEB check.

  2. 02

2D CAD builder and AutoCAD integration

Draw walls, rooms and openings in the browser, or bring in AutoCAD drawings (DXF) and let the layers turn into walls and rooms without retracing.

  3. 03

    3D building model

Floors stack into a 3D building, coloured by U-value or the Umax check, so engineers see the weak parts of the envelope before anything is built.

  4. 04

    Reports and teamwork

PDF, Word, Excel and JSON reports with floor plans and 3D views, a one-page summary for the investor and shared workspaces for whole offices.

What it taught us
Software for experts has to follow their rules and their tools, not the other way round. We bring the same approach to client projects that must read the files and connect to the systems people already depend on.
